SENIOR ADVISORY COUNCIL (SAC)
 
Hector Javier
Hector Javier hails from Manila, Philippines, and now lives as a US citizen in Raleigh, North Carolina. An active NAAAP leader since 2004, he is currently the National Director of Strategic Alliances and Acting Chief Strategy Officer (CSO). He is a former National Vice President, Chief Strategy Officer, a former National Vice President of Chapter Operations, a former member of the National Board of Directors, and a former three-term President of the NAAAP North Carolina Chapter. He also served several terms as a member of the NC Chapter Board of Directors, and now sits on the Chapter’s Senior Advisory Council (SAC).

Hector is an Information Technology Project Manager, and works as a Links Technology consultant at Cisco Systems, the world leader in network routing and switching products that run the Internet, where he manages solution implementations for technical services partners worldwide. Prior to that, he led multinational systems integration teams in the American and Asia Pacific theaters for Accenture. He has a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI), and a Java Programmer certification from Sun Microsystems. He has also trained in Six Sigma, Oracle, and the Capability Maturity Model, and earned various specialist certifications from IBM and Microsoft.

He earned dual B.S. degrees in Chemistry and Computer Engineering from the elite Jesuit college at Ateneo de Manila University, where he had a merit scholarship and served in local and national student government. He also studied for a year at the country's premiere College of Law at the University of the Philippines, and took post-baccalaureate courses in international law and international political economy and a Six Sigma green belt program at North Carolina State University, and basic Nihongo language classes at the North Carolina Japan Center.

Hector was also a member of the National Board of Directors of the United Nations Association (UNA-USA), as well as Chair of the National Leadership Council of the UNA Young Professionals program. He was a USA delegation member to the World Federation of UN Associations (WFUNA) Plenary Assemblies in Seoul, Korea, and Buenos Aires, Argentina, and co-founded the UNA Global Young Professionals network. He now sits on the UNA-USA Council of Chapters and Regions, leading initiatives for generational diversity and social media.

On the local level, he is a member of the Board of Directors of the UNA Wake County Chapter, President of NAAAP-NC’s Toastmasters Club, and English Editor of the China Star newspaper. He is a graduate and Goodmon Fellow of Leadership Triangle’s Regional Leadership Program for emerging local civic leaders. He is a member of the NC Chapter of the Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA), the NC Chapter of the Project Management Institute (PMI), the Committee of 100 of the North Carolina Museum of Art, the Council on Entrepreneurial Development (CED), and the Philippine-American Association of North Carolina (PAANC). He is married to Andrea Lynn Javier (nee Butterworth), an adjunct instructor of English at Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh.

Hai Ly-Burk
Hai Ly Burk is a clinical social worker at Duke Raleigh Hospital. She has been involved with NAAAP since 2007 and was chapter president in 2008. Ms. Burk has also served as program manager for the NAAAP 100 program, which honors the accomplishments of prominent Asian Americans in North America.

Ms. Burk has a passion for community service and for bringing groups together to strengthen the Pan-Asian American community. She received her masters degree in clinical social work from Boston University and her BA from Clark University. She came to Raleigh by way of Maui and Boston

Hans Huang
Hans Huang is a partner at Maupin Taylor, a well-regarded corporate law firm that has served clients in North Carolina for more than 130 years, with offices in Raleigh, Research Triangle Park and Wilmington . Hans is member of the law firm's litigation section, where he concentrates his practice in commercial litigation, securities law, health care law, and insurance defense. He represents clients in contract disputes, software licensing and distribution matters, corporate fraud, insurance coverage, securities fraud, and unfair and deceptive trade practice claims.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Huang practiced law in Charlotte, North Carolina with Morris York Williams Surles & Barringer, L.L.P., where he concentrated on liability insurance defense and workers' compensation defense issues.

He received an undergraduate degree in political science in 1994 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his J.D. from the University of North Carolina School of Law in 1998.

Before entering law school, he provided software and hardware support to the National Institute of Environmental Health Services. He is the former President of the National Association of Asian-American Professionals - North Carolina Venture. During Mr. Huang’s presidency, the Association and its members were recognized for numerous achievements, including the 2002 National Association of Asian-American Professionals Venture of the Year. In 2003, Mr. Huang was voted one of Triangle’s “40 under 40” for attaining a significant leadership role, achieving significant career milestones, and contributing to the community through volunteering before reaching the age of 40. He has also been active in Band Together and in the North Carolina Chinese Business Association.

2012 NAAAP-RTP EXECUTIVE OFFICERS
 
President, Margaux Escutin

Margaux was invited to serve on NAAAP-NC's board soon after she paddled for NAAAP-NC at the 2009 Charlotte Dragon Boat Festival.  Since then, she has served as head of marketing for NAAAP-NC's 10th Anniversary Gala, planned and publicized events, and started a permanent dragon boat team for the chapter.  She has created and maintained the site for NAAAP-NC's twitter page, as well as created events pages and publicized events through facebook.  As a project manager of NAAAP-NC's Census Outreach Project, Margaux educated, encouraged and empowered Asian communities across the state to participate in the US 2010 Census.  In 2010, she served as the chapter vice-president and was the chapter president last year.

Margaux graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2005 with a degree in history.  A future environmentalist, she is currently a Wildlife Conservation Intern at the Piedmont Wildlife Center.



Vice President & Secretary, Cyndy Yu-Robinson

Cyndy Yu-Robinson is the National Chief Marketing Officer of NAAAP, where she is in charge of national public relations and marketing for the NAAAP National Convention.  She is a graduate of the University of California in San Diego (Master of International Relations & Pacific Studies) and Stanford University (Human Biology). 

She currently works in Morrisville for URS Corporation, a global infrastructure, project management, and consulting company. Her projects range from transit planning to stormwater education to Environmental Health and Safety audit programs, and was a former communications director at the US Environmental Protection Agency.  She is a  member  the Leadership Triangle Alumni Association, a Goodmon Fellow  Leadership Triangle’s Regional Leadership program, and a former President of the North Carolina Chinese Business Association (NCCBA) and the Triangle Area Chinese American Society (TACAS).

Cyndy and her family own and operate Triangle’s Best Karate in Raleigh, where they train internationally competitive Japanese karate athletes.

SeungWon Andrew Hong is a current Board member and Membership Director of NAAAP North Carolina. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Greensboro, where he is a financial executive at Pilot Financial Advisors.

He is a graduate of Oklahoma State University (MS Accounting), Seoul National University (Public Administration), and Yonsei University in South Korea (Economics).

She is a graduate of the Chinese Academy of Science and of Tsinghua University.  Originally from Hongan, Hubei, China, she now lives in Cary with her husband.

Sampada Agarwal is an experienced professional in the dynamic industry of Information Technology. She earned a Bachelors in Electronics engineering from India and M. S. in Computer Science from Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas. 

She has a varied range of work experience - she has taught at universities both in the US and India, worked in the field of telecommunication, as well as the financial industry. She has been with Credit Suisse since she moved to the Triangle area in 2006. She has been an active member of most networks at Credit Suisse, namely, IT Asian American Network, Multicultural Resource Network, Family Network, & Women's Network. She is an avid reader, self-taught artist, and singer.

Mimi Yu Chan

Mimi Chan is an NC State graduate, small business owner, new mother and advocate of pet projects.

Professionally, Mimi has spent the past 6 years as a marketing consultant for the shopping center industry, creating marketing programs that drive traffic and sales for merchants of her clients' retail properties. She started her own consulting company two years ago with the mission to provide affordable marketing solutions for retail properties of

On all budget sizes. Her current project is Thriving Merchant Circle, an affordable online learning program designed to teach merchants and small business owners how to easily and inexpensively market their own businesses.On the fun side, Mimi has applied her professional skills towards interesting pet projects over the years such as marketing for Korean-American female hip hop artist Skim, Filipina-American author/actress/entrepreneur Shelene Atanacio, and Los Angeles-based dragon boat team Killer Guppies.

She loves to take on new challenges that make life more interesting. Personally, Mimi and her husband recently moved back to the great state of North Carolina with their new baby boy, Brady. "It feels great to be home and have that family support around." She's excited to network with professionals in the area, make new friends and contribute to the success of NAAAP-RTP.
